Method
Cocktail
- 1
Measure and combine
Add 2 oz tequila blanco, 1 oz grapefruit liqueur, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz agave nectar, and 0.5 oz fresh pink grapefruit juice (if using) into a cocktail shaker.
- 2
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with about 1 cup of ice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is very cold and the contents are well chilled and slightly diluted.
- 3
Prepare glass (optional salted rim)
If you want a salted rim, rub the lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass, then dip the rim into a small plate with 0.25 tsp fine sea or smoked salt until evenly coated. If not salting, simply chill the glass briefly.
- 4
Strain and serve
Strain the cocktail over fresh ice in the prepared glass (or serve neat in a chilled coupe). If using fresh grapefruit juice, a double strain through a fine mesh sieve will remove pulp for a smoother texture.
Garnish & Finish
- 5
Garnish with a grapefruit wheel or wedge on the rim. Optionally express the oils of a grapefruit peel over the drink before dropping it in for extra aromatics.
- 6
Serve immediately while cold.
