Method

Cocktail Base

  1. 1

    Measure and combine

Add 2 oz vodka and 0.5 oz dry vermouth into a cocktail shaker.

  2. 2

    Add creatine and activated charcoal

Add 2 g creatine monohydrate and 1 tsp food-grade activated charcoal powder into the shaker. Note: activated charcoal can bind certain substances; if you intend to take medication or supplements besides the creatine, consult a professional. Creatine is included here as an ingredient — ensure you have no contraindications for taking creatine.

  3. 3

    Add acidity and sweetness

Add 0.25 oz fresh lemon juice and 0.25 oz simple syrup to help the creatine dissolve and to balance the charcoal's earthy notes.

  4. 4

    Add ice and mix

Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds. The goal is to chill, slightly dilute, and help disperse the charcoal and dissolve the creatine. Note that activated charcoal will not fully dissolve; it will be suspended and give a deep black color.

  5. 5

    Strain

Double-strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass using a fine mesh strainer to remove larger charcoal particles and ice shards. Expect a slightly cloudy, deep black finish.

Garnish & Serve

  1. 6

Express the oils of a lemon twist over the surface of the drink, rim the glass with the twist, then drop it in (or place a dehydrated lemon wheel on the rim). Serve immediately.

  2. 7

Consume responsibly. Activated charcoal can interfere with absorption of medications and nutrients if taken close in time; avoid taking other oral medications or supplements within several hours. If you are using creatine therapeutically or have health conditions, check with a healthcare professional before consuming.
