Cherry syrup

Method

Cherry syrup

1

Balance syrup

Measure 3 tablespoons Amarena cherry syrup into a small bowl or jigger. Stir in 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice to brighten the syrup and cut sweetness. Taste and adjust: if the syrup is very tart, add up to 0.5 teaspoon simple syrup; if too sweet, add another 0.5 teaspoon lemon juice.

Citrus

2

Extract orange

If using fresh orange half (about 1/2 cup juice), squeeze the orange into a small measuring cup, removing seeds. You can also finely zest a little orange peel (about 1/4 teaspoon) to enhance aroma — reserve for garnish if desired.

3

If you prefer a brighter soda, stir 1 tablespoon of the fresh orange juice into the cherry syrup mixture. This adds a sweet-citrus layer that complements the Amarena flavor. Reserve the remaining orange juice for finishing the drink if using.

Assembly

4

Prepare glass

Fill a tall glass with 1 cup of ice (cracked or cubed) to chill the drink and slow dilution.

5

Build the soda

Pour the cherry-lemon (and optional orange) syrup mixture over the ice. Slowly add 8 oz chilled soda water down the side of the glass to preserve carbonation and create a layered look. Give the drink one gentle stir (1–2 rotations) to incorporate flavors without flattening the soda.

6

Garnish & finish

Top with a thin orange wheel on the rim and drop in 1 Amarena or maraschino cherry if using. Optionally grate a little orange zest over the top for perfume. Serve immediately with a straw.
