Method

Cocktail

1

Measure and pour

Place a mixing glass or a rocks glass large enough for stirring in front of you. Add 1 oz gin, 1 oz Campari, and 1 oz sweet vermouth into the glass.

2

Add ice

Fill the mixing glass with large ice cubes until nearly full. Using large cubes chills the drink effectively while diluting slowly.

3

Stir

Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 strokes). Stirring chills the ingredients and adds the proper dilution; the drink should be well-chilled and slightly viscous.

4

Prepare serving glass

If using a rocks glass, place 1–2 large ice cubes in the serving glass (or a single large cube).

5

Strain

Using a hawthorn strainer or the mixing glass lid, strain the chilled Negroni into the prepared rocks glass over the fresh ice.

Garnish & Serve

6

Express orange oil

Hold an orange peel over the drink, skin side down. Give the peel a quick, firm squeeze to express the oils across the surface of the cocktail, then rub the peel around the glass rim.

7

Garnish

Drop the expressed orange twist into the drink or perch it on the rim. Optionally add half an orange slice on the rim for presentation.

8

Serve immediately. Enjoy responsibly.
