Fried Pickles Ingredients
Method
Fried Pickles Directions
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the dill pickle slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Combine Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and buttermilk until well combined.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. The batter should be thick.
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Coat the Pickles
Dunk each pickle slice into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off.
Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the battered pickle slices into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with ranch dressing.
