Smoothie base

Method

Smoothie base

  1. 1

    Prepare banana

Peel the ripe banana and break it into 2–3 chunks so it blends evenly.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a blender add the banana chunks, 1.5 cups oat milk, 2 tablespoons peanut butter, 1/4 cup Greek yogurt (if using), 2 tablespoons rolled oats (if using), 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (if using), 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract.

  3. 3

    Add ice

Add 4 ice cubes to the blender for a chilled, slightly frothy texture. If you prefer a thicker smoothie, use more ice or substitute some oat milk with frozen banana slices.

  4. 4

    Blend

Blend on high for about 30–60 seconds, or until completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides once if needed, then blend again to incorporate.

  5. 5

    Adjust consistency & sweetness

Check the texture and taste. If too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons oat milk and blend briefly. If too thin, add a few more ice cubes or 1/4 frozen banana and blend. If not sweet enough, add an additional 1/2 teaspoon honey or maple syrup and blend briefly.

Serve & garnish

  1. 6

Pour the smoothie into a 16–20 oz glass.

  2. 7

Garnish with a banana slice on the rim and a small drizzle of peanut butter or a sprinkle of crushed peanuts on top, if desired.

  3. 8

Serve immediately with a straw. Stir briefly before drinking if the smoothie settles.
