Method

Prep

  1. 1

    Prepare fruit

Peel the ripe banana and break it into 2–3 chunks so it blends easily. If using fresh berries instead of frozen, wash and hull/halve larger berries (strawberries).

  2. 2

    Measure liquids and optional add-ins

Measure 1.5 cups oat milk. If using yogurt, honey/maple, vanilla, oats, or chia seeds, measure them now so the blending process is smooth.

Blend

  1. 3

Add the oat milk to the blender first (this helps the blades move), then add the banana chunks, frozen mixed berries, and optional yogurt if using.

  2. 4

Add the optional sweetener (honey or maple syrup) and vanilla extract, then add rolled oats and chia seeds if desired for thickness and nutrition.

  3. 5

If you want a colder, more slushy texture, add 4 ice cubes. Secure the blender lid.

  4. 6

Blend on high for 45–60 seconds, or until smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula if needed, then blend another 10–15 seconds to fully incorporate.

Adjust & Serve

  1. 7

Taste the smoothie. If it’s too thick, add 2–4 tablespoons (30–60 ml) more oat milk and blend briefly. If it needs more sweetness, add an extra 1/2 tablespoon honey or maple syrup and blend.

  2. 8

Pour the smoothie into a glass. Garnish with a fresh berry or a banana slice and a mint leaf if desired.

  3. 9

Serve immediately with a straw. Store any leftovers in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours; stir or re-blend before drinking.
