1

Prepare glass

Fill a highball glass (or tall Collins glass) with ice to chill while you prepare the drink.

2

Combine tequila and orange juice

In a mixing glass or shaker, add 2 oz blanco tequila and 4 oz fresh orange juice. Add a few ice cubes if you prefer the mixing vessel chilled.

3

Stir and pour

Gently stir the tequila and orange juice for about 10 seconds to combine and chill. Empty the ice from the chilled serving glass if you prefer less dilution, then fill the serving glass with fresh ice and strain the mixed tequila-orange into the glass.

4

Add grenadine for sunrise effect

Slowly pour 0.5 oz grenadine down the inside edge of the glass or over the back of a spoon so it sinks through the orange mixture and creates a layered 'sunrise' gradient at the bottom.

5

Garnish and serve

Garnish with an orange wheel on the rim and drop in a maraschino cherry. Serve with a straw, advising the drinker they can gently stir if they want the colors to blend and the grenadine to distribute.
