Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker combine 1 oz Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, 1 oz pineapple purée, 1 oz coconut purée, 0.25 oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 0.5 oz cold pineapple juice.

  2. 2

    Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with crushed ice (or about 4 oz crushed/cubed) and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.

  3. 3

    Strain

Double-strain (if using purées and you prefer a smoother texture) into a chilled Collins glass or tiki glass filled with fresh crushed ice. If you prefer a frozen-style Piña Colada, blend the same ingredients with 4–6 oz crushed ice on high until smooth and serve in a chilled glass.

Garnish

  1. 4

Garnish the drink with a pineapple wedge and a maraschino cherry on a pick. Optionally grate a very light dusting of fresh nutmeg over the top for aroma.

Serve

  1. 5

Serve immediately while cold. Provide a straw and small spoon if served over crushed ice to help sip the purée-rich mixture.
