Sangria Base
Topper & Garnish
Method
Sangria Base
- 1
Add 3.5 oz Peller Family Vineyards Cabernet-Merlot to a mixing glass or shaker.
- 2
Pour in 0.5 oz brandy.
- 3
Add 0.5 oz peach purée to provide body and stone-fruit sweetness.
- 4
Add 0.5 oz cranberry juice and 0.5 oz orange juice for acidity and bright citrus notes.
- 5
Mix
Gently stir the wine, brandy, purée and juices together for 8–10 seconds to integrate—do not vigorously shake, which would over-aerate the red wine.
Assemble & Finish
- 6
Fill a rocks or wine glass with 4 ice cubes.
- 7
Strain the sangria base mixture over the ice into the glass.
- 8
Top with 1 oz chilled ginger ale to add effervescence and a spicy-sweet finish.
- 9
Add 0.5 oz mixed fresh berries into the drink and drop in the berries so they float and release aroma.
- 10
Garnish the rim or float an orange wheel on the surface.
- 11
Final Touch
Give the drink a gentle stir with a bar spoon once to combine the topper with the sangria, then serve immediately.
