Method

Preparation of Hummus

1

Drain and Rinse Chickpeas

Open the can of chickpeas, drain the liquid, and rinse the chickpeas under cold water to remove excess sodium.

2

Combine Ingredients in a Food Processor

In a food processor, combine the drained chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic cloves, olive oil, ground cumin, and salt.

3

Blend Until Smooth

Blend the mixture on high speed until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.

4

Adjust Consistency

If the hummus is too thick, add water one tablespoon at a time and blend until the desired consistency is reached.

5

Taste and Adjust Flavor

Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning as necessary, adding more salt or lemon juice to taste.

6

Transfer to Serving Bowl

Spoon the hummus into a serving bowl, creating a shallow well in the center.

7

Drizzle with Olive Oil

Drizzle a little olive oil on top of the hummus, and if desired, garnish with a sprinkle of paprika or parsley.

8

Prepare Pita Bread

Cut the pita bread into wedges or halves for easy dipping.
