Method

Prep

1

Prepare eggs

Place 3 eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water by about 1 inch. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 9 minutes for firm yolks. Transfer eggs to an ice bath for 5 minutes, then peel and quarter or slice.

2

Cook bacon (if not pre-cooked)

In a skillet over medium heat, cook 4 bacon strips until crisp, about 6–8 minutes, turning occasionally. Transfer to paper towel-lined plate to drain and cool, then chop or crumble.

3

Prepare turkey

If your turkey is cold from the fridge, slice or chop 12 oz into bite-sized strips or cubes. If you prefer warm turkey, briefly heat slices in a skillet with 1 tsp olive oil over medium heat 2–3 minutes per side until warmed through; let cool slightly.

4

Wash and dry vegetables

Rinse and dry 6 cups mixed salad greens. Halve 1 cup cherry tomatoes, slice 1 cup seeded cucumber, thinly slice 1/4 cup red onion (if using), and halve and slice the avocado just before serving; toss avocado with a squeeze of the 2 tsp lemon juice to slow browning.

Make dressing

5

In a bowl or jar, combine 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt, 1 tbsp Dijon mustard, 2 tsp red wine vinegar, 2 tsp fresh lemon juice, 1 tbsp olive oil, 1/2 tsp minced garlic, 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional), 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper. Whisk vigorously (or shake in a jar with lid) until smooth and emulsified. Taste and adjust seasoning — add more lemon or vinegar for brightness, or a pinch more salt if needed.

Assemble salad

6

On a large platter or in a large bowl, arrange the 6 cups mixed greens as the base.

7

Neatly arrange the turkey, quartered eggs, chopped bacon, halved cherry tomatoes, sliced cucumber, sliced avocado, and crumbled blue cheese in rows or sections on top of the greens so each ingredient is visible. Scatter thinly sliced red onion if using.

8

Drizzle about half of the dressing over the salad (or serve dressing on the side). Reserve the rest of the dressing for individual portions or for guests to add to taste.

9

Sprinkle chopped chives or parsley and optional croutons over the top. Finish with an extra grind of black pepper if desired.

Serve

10

Toss lightly before serving if you prefer a mixed cobb; otherwise serve composed so guests can take preferred components. Serve immediately.
