Cocktail
Method
Cocktail
Chill glass (optional)
If you prefer a colder glass, place the serving glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the drink.
Combine ingredients
In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled about two-thirds with ice, pour 1 oz Campari, 1 oz Weiss gin, and 1 oz sweet vermouth.
Prepare serving glass
Discard any ice water from the chilled glass if used. Add one large ice cube or ice sphere to the serving glass.
Strain
Strain the stirred cocktail from the mixing glass into the serving glass over the large ice cube using a Hawthorne or julep strainer (or by holding back ice with the spoon).
Express orange oils & garnish
Take the orange peel, hold it with the outer (zested) side facing down over the drink, and give it a sharp fold or squeeze to express the oils over the surface. Rub the peel's rim on the glass if desired, then drop the peel into the drink as garnish.
Serve
Serve immediately. Sip slowly to appreciate the balance of bitter, botanical, and sweet flavors.
