Margarita Base

Serving (per 8 servings batch)

Method

Margarita Base

1

Juice and Measure

Juice fresh limes until you have 0.75 cups (about 6–8 limes). Strain to remove pulp and seeds for a cleaner cocktail.

2

In a large pitcher or mixing container combine 1.5 cups blanco tequila, 0.75 cups fresh lime juice, 0.5 cups orange liqueur, and 0.25 cups agave syrup. Stir or gently swirl to combine. Taste and adjust sweetness — if you prefer a milder agave note, stir in up to 0.25 cups simple syrup instead or in addition.

Chilling & Dilution

3

If serving immediately as single cocktails: fill a cocktail shaker with ice (about 1–2 cups per shakings), add 2.5 oz of the Margarita mix to the shaker, shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted, then strain into a prepared glass over fresh ice. If serving the whole batch: refrigerate the pitcher for at least 30 minutes. Before serving, taste; if the mix is too strong, stir in up to 0.5 cups cold water to reach desired strength. For proper mouthfeel and dilution, either shake individual servings with ice or pour the chilled mix over ice in each glass.

Garnish & Rimming

4

Prepare glass rims: run a lime wedge around the outer rim of each serving glass. Spread 0.25 cups coarse salt on a small plate and gently dip the moistened rims into the salt to coat. Fill the glasses with fresh ice if serving on the rocks.

5

Pour the chilled margarita (shaken or from the pitcher) into the prepared glasses. Garnish each glass with a lime wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.

Notes & Adjustments

6

Batch sizing: this recipe makes roughly 8 servings (each ~3.5–4 oz of spirit-forward mix before dilution). To make single cocktails, use 2 oz tequila, 1 oz lime juice, 0.5 oz orange liqueur, and 0.5 oz agave syrup (or adjust to taste). For frozen margaritas, blend the mix with ice (about 1.5 cups ice per 6 oz mix) until slushy. If limes vary in acidity, balance with more agave or a splash of simple syrup. Always taste before serving.
