Cocktail

Garnish & Ice

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a Collins or highball glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill it with ice and water to chill while you prepare the drink.

  2. 2

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.

Mixing

  1. 3

    Combine spirits and juices

Add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz peach schnapps, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz grenadine, and 2 oz light cranberry juice to the shaker. If you prefer a slightly sweeter drink, add 0.25 oz simple syrup.

  2. 4

    Shake

Cap the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and slightly frosted.

Finish & Serve

  1. 5

    Prepare glass

If you used ice and water to chill the glass, discard that ice. Fill the chilled Collins/highball glass with fresh cubed ice (about 1 cup).

  2. 6

    Strain and top

Strain the shaken mixture over the fresh ice. Gently pour 1 oz club soda down the side of the glass to give the cocktail a light effervescence and a subtle lift in color.

  3. 7

    Garnish

Float or thread a lemon wheel on the rim and slap a mint sprig lightly to release aroma, then tuck it beside the lemon. Optionally, stir once gently with a bar spoon to integrate the soda.

  4. 8

Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer. Enjoy.
