Method

Preparation

1

Warm the teapot

Pour about 100 ml of freshly boiled water into the teapot, swirl for 10–15 seconds, then discard. This pre-warms the pot so the brewing temperature remains stable.

2

Measure tea

Weigh 8 g of organic loose-leaf Tea (Silk Road or Westholme). This is approximately 2 teaspoons per 250 ml cup; for a 1-liter pot use 8 g (about 4–5 teaspoons depending on leaf size).

Boiling and Steeping

3

Bring water to temperature

Bring 1 liter of fresh filtered water to a near-boil. For black or strong breakfast-style blends (Silk Road/Westholme), heat to 95–100°C (203–212°F). For more delicate blends, use 90–95°C (194–203°F). Use a thermometer if available.

4

Add tea to infuser

Place the measured 8 g of loose-leaf tea into the teapot infuser or a separate infuser/strainer.

5

Pour water and steep

Pour the hot water (1 liter) over the tea leaves in the teapot. Cover and steep for 3.5–5 minutes depending on desired strength: 3.5–4 minutes for a balanced cup, 4.5–5 minutes for a stronger brew. Avoid steeping longer than 6 minutes to prevent excessive bitterness.

Finish and Serve

6

Remove leaves

After steeping, remove the infuser or strain the tea into a second warmed teapot or directly into cups to stop extraction.

7

Add optional extras

Offer honey or sugar (2 tsp per pot suggested), milk (120 ml for the pot) and lemon slices or mint sprigs as desired. If adding lemon, omit milk. Stir gently if sweetening or adding milk.

8

Serve

Serve the tea immediately in warmed cups. This recipe yields enough for about 4 cups (approx. 250 ml each).
