Method
Cocktail
Chill glass
Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to thoroughly chill.
Measure ingredients
Measure 2 oz Grey Goose vodka, 2 oz pomegranate juice, 0.5 oz Cointreau, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup (optional) into a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake
Add 6 ice cubes to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well chilled. This both chills and slightly dilutes the drink for balance.
Prepare glass
Discard ice or ice water from the chilled glass and (optional) run a lime wedge around the rim for aroma.
Double-strain and pour
Double-strain the cocktail through a fine mesh strainer into the chilled martini or coupe glass to remove tiny ice shards and any pulp from the pomegranate or lime.
Garnish and serve
Float 1 tsp of pomegranate seeds in the center of the cocktail and finish with a lime twist or wheel on the rim. Serve immediately.
