Martini

Method

Preparation

1

Chill glass

Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 10 minutes or fill with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the drink stays cold.

2

Prepare garnish

Slice a ripe peach into a thin wedge or slice and/or prepare a lemon twist. Set aside on a small plate.

Mixing

3

Add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz peach schnapps, 1 oz white peach puree (or peach nectar), 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup into a cocktail shaker.

4

If you prefer a very clean, slightly more complex martini, add a 0.125 oz (a rinse or splash) of dry vermouth to the shaker. For a drier profile, omit or simply rinse the glass with vermouth instead of adding it to the shaker.

5

Fill the shaker with cocktail ice (about 1 cup) and seal. Shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the shaker is icy cold and you see condensation form on the outside.

6

If you used fresh peach puree and want a smoother texture, double-strain the cocktail through a fine-mesh strainer into the chilled glass to remove any pulp or ice shards. If using nectar and you prefer texture, a single strain is sufficient.

Finishing

7

Garnish the cocktail with the peach slice perched on the rim or floated in the drink. Optionally add the lemon twist for a hint of citrus aroma—express the oils over the surface before dropping it in.

8

Serve immediately while cold.
