Cocktail
Optional Simple Syrup (if not using pre-made)
Method
Cocktail
Prepare glass
Fill a Collins or highball glass with ice to chill while you build the cocktail.
Muddle mint
In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker, place 8 fresh mint leaves and 0.5 oz simple syrup. Gently muddle 6–8 times — press just enough to release the oils without shredding the leaves.
Add spirits and lime
Add 2 oz Cathead Honeysuckle Vodka and 0.75 oz fresh lime juice to the shaker with the muddled mint and syrup.
Shake
Add a handful of ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well chilled.
Assemble
Discard ice from the chilled serving glass (if desired) and fill the glass with fresh ice. Strain the shaken mixture into the glass.
Top and finish
Top with about 3 oz ginger ale. Give the drink 1 gentle stir to combine without flattening the ginger ale.
Garnish
Slap a mint sprig between your hands to bloom the aroma and place it on top. Add a lime wheel or wedge on the rim.
Serve
Serve immediately with a straw or cocktail pick for the garnish.
Optional Simple Syrup
Combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved and the liquid is clear. Remove from heat and let cool. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
