Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Combine

Add 2 oz Woody Creek Rye, 0.75 oz Cocchi di Torino, 0.25 oz Bigallet China-China, and 2 dashes orange bitters into a mixing glass.

  2. 2

    Add ice

Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice (about 1 cup) to chill and slightly dilute the drink while stirring.

  3. 3

    Stir

Stir gently and continuously for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full rotations) until the outside of the mixing glass becomes cold and the drink is properly diluted and well-integrated.

  4. 4

    Strain

Using a julep or Hawthorne strainer, strain the cocktail into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass. Alternatively, serve over a single large clear ice cube in an old-fashioned glass if you prefer it on the rocks.

Garnish

  1. 5

Express the oils of the orange twist over the surface of the cocktail by holding the peel skin-side down above the glass and giving it a firm squeeze. Rub the rim with the peel, then drop the twist into the drink (or rest it on the rim).
