Prepare Fruit & Glass
1. Muddle berries
Place 1/2 cup seasonal mixed berries in a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently muddle until berries are broken down but still slightly chunky—about 8–10 gentle presses. This releases juices and aroma without over-extracting bitterness from seeds.
2. Fill a tall Collins or highball glass with ice to chill while you finish the cocktail.
Mix Cocktail Base
3. Add the gin (2 tbs), ginger liqueur or syrup (3/4 tbs), elderflower liqueur (1/2 tbs), and fresh lime juice (3/4 tbs) to the shaker with the muddled berries.
4. Dry-shake (no ice) vigorously for 8–10 seconds to emulsify the liqueur, ginger, and berry juices, brightening the flavors.
Build & Dress with Beer
5. Add a generous scoop of ice to the chilled Collins/highball glass and strain the shaken berry-gin mixture into the glass, leaving behind large solids (or fine-strain if you prefer a smoother drink).
6. Slowly top with 6 oz chilled light lager or pale ale so the beer retains carbonation. If you want extra fizz or to soften the beer character, add 1 oz club soda or sparkling water on top.
7. Give the drink one gentle stir (one or two turns) to integrate the beer with the gin-berry base without flattening the carbonation.
Garnish & Serve
8. Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim, a few whole berries dropped into the drink, and an optional mint sprig tucked to the side for aroma.
9. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer. Encourage sipping to enjoy the interplay of ginger, elderflower, bright lime, fresh berry notes, and beer refreshment.
