Tools & Finishing
Method
Prepare Fruit & Base
- 1
Muddle berries
Place the seasonal berries (3 each) into the bottom of the cocktail shaker. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently muddle until broken down but not pulverized — you want juices and some texture for flavor and color (about 8–12 gentle strokes).
- 2
Add mango purée
Spoon or pour 1 oz mango purée into the shaker with the muddled berries. Give the mixture a quick stir to incorporate mango with the berry juices.
Mixing
- 3
Add spirits and citrus
Add 2 oz gin, 0.5 oz elderflower liqueur, and 0.75 oz fresh lime juice into the shaker with the fruit.
- 4
Sweeten if needed
If your mango or berries are tart or you prefer a sweeter cocktail, add 0.25 oz simple syrup. This is optional — taste and adjust.
- 5
Ice and shake
Add a generous handful of cubed ice (about 1 cup) to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds, until well chilled and the outside of the shaker is frosty.
- 6
Strain
Fill a highball or Collins glass with fresh ice. Double-strain the shaken cocktail into the glass through a fine strainer (or use the shaker strainer) to remove fruit solids and seeds, leaving a smooth fruity base.
Finish & Garnish
- 7
Top with ginger beer
Carefully top the strained cocktail with 4 oz chilled ginger beer. Stir gently once or twice with a bar spoon to integrate the ginger beer without losing too much carbonation.
- 8
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge and a sprig of mint (optional). Optionally thread a berry or two on a pick and rest on the rim. Serve immediately.
