Fruit & Sugar Base
- 1
Muddle and Sweeten
Place the fresh raspberries, black cherry preserves, and granulated sugar in a mixing glass or cocktail shaker. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to crush the raspberries thoroughly until the mixture is juicy and the jam is well combined. The sugar helps macerate the fruit and dissolve the preserves.
- 2
Add the fresh lemon juice to the muddled fruit and stir for 10–15 seconds to combine and brighten the flavors.
Spirits & Mixer
- 3
Build the Cocktail
Add the vodka and black cherry liqueur to the muddled fruit mixture. Fill the shaker about halfway with ice (or add the cubed ice if using a mixing glass). Cap the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds to chill and dilute slightly.
- 4
If you prefer a smoother texture, double-strain the shaken mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a chilled highball or coupe glass to remove seeds and large pulp. Otherwise, strain through a standard cocktail strainer directly into the serving glass over fresh ice.
- 5
Top with the club soda (about 2 oz) and gently stir once or twice to integrate without losing carbonation.
Garnish & Finish
- 6
Add remaining fresh raspberries and the black cherry (or maraschino cherry) to a cocktail pick or drop directly into the drink. Finish with a lemon twist expressed over the surface if using, then rest on the rim.
- 7
Serve immediately while cold and slightly effervescent. Offer a straw if desired.
