Preparation Steps

1

Caramelize the Onions

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

2

Prepare the Au Jus

In a saucepan, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, allowing flavors to meld for about 10 minutes.

3

Assemble the French Dip

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). On each hoagie roll, layer the thinly shaved Angus beef, a slice of provolone cheese, and a generous portion of caramelized onions. Place the assembled sandwiches on a baking sheet and warm in the oven for about 5-7 minutes until the cheese melts.

4

Serve

Remove the sandwiches from the oven and serve hot with the housemade au jus for dipping.
