Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Measure and prepare

Chill a coupe or Nick & Nora glass by filling it with ice and set aside. Juice fresh limes and lemons to have the measured amounts ready.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Bacardi Ocho, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, 0.25 oz Cointreau, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters.

  3. 3

    Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (enough to come about two-thirds of the way up). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is very cold.

  4. 4

    Prepare glass

Discard the ice from the chilled serving glass and, if desired, briefly rinse the glass with the tiniest splash of Cointreau for aroma (optional).

  5. 5

    Double strain and serve

Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass using both the shaker strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove small ice chips and any pulp.

  6. 6

    Garnish

Express an orange twist over the surface of the cocktail to release the oils, rub the twist on the rim if you like, then drop it into the drink as a garnish.

  7. 7

    Enjoy

    Serve immediately while cold.
