Preparation

1

Prepare the Spicy Infusion

Slice the jalapeño pepper in half and remove the seeds if you want less heat. Place the halves into a small saucepan with 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Strain the jalapeño infusion into a small bowl, discarding the solids.

2

Mix the Cocktail

In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz of tequila, 1 oz of lime juice, 0.5 oz of orange liqueur, and 0.5 oz of simple syrup. Add 2 oz of the jalapeño infusion, 1 tsp of smoked paprika, and 0.5 tsp of black pepper.

Shaking and Serving

3

Shake the Cocktail

Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.

4

Prepare the Glass

Run a lime wedge around the rim of a glass and dip it into salt to coat the rim. Fill the glass with ice.

5

Strain and Garnish

Strain the cocktail mixture into the prepared glass over ice. Garnish with a lime wheel and sprinkle fresh cilantro on top.
