Main Bowl Preparation
1. Prepare the Rice
In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of rinsed rice, cover, and reduce heat to low. Cook for 18-20 minutes until rice is fluffy. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes.
2. Grill the Chicken
Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Season the chicken breast with salt and pepper. Grill for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
3. Steam the Broccoli
While the chicken is grilling, steam broccoli in a steamer basket over boiling water for about 5-7 minutes until tender but still bright green.
4. Assemble the Main Bowl
In a bowl, add 1 cup of cooked rice as the base. Top with sliced grilled chicken, steamed broccoli, and sprinkle 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of teriyaki sauce.
Side Dishes Preparation
5. Prepare Carrot Sticks
Wash and peel 1 medium carrot. Cut it into sticks about 3 inches long and 1/4 inch wide. Place in a small bowl.
6. Prepare Apple Slices
Wash 1 medium apple. Core and slice into thin wedges. Arrange in a small bowl.
