Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

Chill the glass if desired: place the wine glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice and cold water for 1–2 minutes, then discard water before building the drink.

  2. 2

Fill the chilled large wine glass about three-quarters full with fresh ice cubes to keep the drink cold without diluting too quickly.

  3. 3

Measure and pour 3 oz Aperol over the ice using a jigger. Aperol provides the bitter-sweet orange flavor base.

  4. 4

Pour 2 oz chilled Prosecco gently into the glass. Pour slowly or down the side of the glass to preserve effervescence.

  5. 5

Add 1 oz chilled soda water to top the drink and lighten it. Adjust soda quantity up to 1.5 oz if you prefer a lighter, less bitter spritz.

  6. 6

Give the cocktail one gentle stir with a bar spoon (one–two slow turns) to integrate Aperol, Prosecco, and soda without flattening the bubbles.

  7. 7

Garnish with 1 fresh orange wheel: cut a 1/4" wheel and either float it in the drink or place it on the rim.

  8. 8

Serve immediately while chilled and fizzy. Offer a straw or let guests sip directly from the glass.

Optional tools

  1. 9

Use a jigger to ensure accurate measurements for consistent flavor and balance.

  2. 10

If serving multiple spritzes, chill Prosecco and soda in advance and prepare a tray with pre-chilled glasses and garnishes to speed service.
