Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Method

1

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 12-inch pizza pan or large round baking pan with 1 tablespoon melted butter or line with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

2

In a medium bowl, whisk together 2.5 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, and 3/4 teaspoon salt until evenly combined. Set aside.

3

In a large mixing bowl, beat 1 cup softened unsalted butter with 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar until light, fluffy, and slightly paler, about 2–3 minutes using a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed.

4

Add 2 large eggs, one at a time, beating briefly after each addition until incorporated. Mix in 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract until combined.

5

With the mixer on low speed, gradually add the dry flour mixture to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing until just combined and no large streaks of flour remain. Do not overmix.

6

Using a spatula, fold in 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips evenly through the dough.

7

Transfer the cookie dough onto the prepared 12-inch pizza pan. Using lightly greased hands or an offset spatula, press and spread the dough evenly into a circle about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick, leaving the edges slightly higher to create a 'crust' if desired. Smooth the top and ensure an even thickness for uniform baking.

Baking and Finish

8

Bake

Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the center is set and the edges are golden brown. The center may look slightly soft but will continue to set as it cools. For a chewier center, bake on the shorter end of the time range; for more golden/crisp edges, bake longer.

9

Rest on pan

Remove the cookie pizza from the oven and let it cool on the pan for 10–15 minutes. This resting allows the cookie to firm up enough to slice while still warm.

10

Finish

If using, sprinkle about 1/2 teaspoon coarse sea salt evenly over the warm cookie pizza to enhance flavor. Drizzle chocolate sauce or caramel (about 2 tablespoons) in a decorative pattern if desired. Allow to cool slightly more if you want firmer slices.

11

Serve

Slice the cookie pizza like a pie into 8 slices. Serve warm or at room temperature with 2 scoops of vanilla or chocolate ice cream per pizza, or individual scoops per slice. Enjoy immediately.
