Preparing the Coffee

    Measure Coffee

    Measure out 0.5 cups of coarsely ground coffee using a measuring cup.

    Boil Water

    In a kettle, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat once boiling.

    Combine Coffee and Water

    In a French press, add the coarsely ground coffee. Slowly pour the hot water over the coffee grounds.

    Stir Mixture

    Use a wooden or plastic spoon to gently stir the coffee and water mixture to ensure all grounds are saturated.

    Steep

    Place the lid on the French press and let the coffee steep for 4 minutes.

    Press the Plunger

    After 4 minutes, press the plunger down slowly and steadily to separate the coffee grounds from the liquid.

    Serve

    Pour the freshly brewed coffee into cups. Add milk or cream and sugar or sweetener to taste if desired.
