Tomato Water Preparation
Prepare the Tomato Water
Begin by washing the fresh ripe tomatoes thoroughly. Cut them into quarters and place them in a blender.
Blend and Strain
Blend the tomatoes until smooth. Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a bowl to separate the liquid from the pulp. Add 0.5 tsp of salt to the liquid, stir gently, and set aside.
Cocktail Mixing
Combine Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz of gin, 1 oz of aquavit, and 1 oz of the prepared tomato water.
Add Sherry
Pour in 0.5 oz of Puerto Rican sherry to the shaker.
Shake
Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.
Strain and Serve
Strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass.
Garnishing
Garnish the Cocktail
Garnish the drink with fresh basil leaves and a whole cherry tomato on a cocktail pick.
