Margarita Mix & Spirits
Glass & Garnish
Method
Prep & Rimming
Pour the coarse salt onto a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the outside rim of each glass (or the entire rim if preferred). Dip the rim of each glass into the salt, pressing lightly so the salt adheres. Set glasses aside.
Mixing the Margaritas
Combine spirits and citrus
In a cocktail shaker, add 6 oz Patrón Silver tequila, 2 oz Cointreau, and 3 oz freshly squeezed lime juice. Add 0.5 oz simple syrup only if you prefer a slightly sweeter margarita; otherwise omit.
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker to about two-thirds with ice (approximately 1.5–2 cups). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the exterior has frost.
Strain
Discard ice from chilled glasses if used. Double-strain the margarita into the prepared glasses over fresh ice (for rocks) or without ice (for coupe) using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove small ice shards and pulp.
Garnish & Serve
Garnish each drink with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Optionally express a lime peel over the cocktail by squeezing it skin-side down over the glass to release oils for extra aroma.
Serve immediately. Recommend serving temperature: very cold. Each serving is roughly 4 oz of liquid in a coupe or 8–10 oz in a rocks glass with ice.
