Carnitas Ingredients
Method
Cooking Directions
Prepare the Pork
Cut the pork shoulder into large chunks and season with salt, black pepper, cumin, and oregano.
Combine Ingredients
In a large bowl, mix the orange juice, lime juice, garlic, chopped onion, and bay leaves. Add the seasoned pork chunks and toss to coat.
Cook the Pork
Transfer the pork mixture to a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the meat is tender and shreds easily.
Crisp the Carnitas
Once the pork is cooked, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Remove the pork from the slow cooker, shred it with forks, and spread it on a baking sheet. Drizzle with lard or oil and roast for 15-20 minutes until crispy.
Serve
Serve the carnitas with tortillas, cilantro, onions, and lime wedges.
