Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Place a copper mule mug (or highball glass) in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice to chill while you prepare ingredients. Discard chilling ice and leave the glass cold if desired.

  2. 2

    Add ice

Fill the chilled mug about three-quarters full with fresh ice cubes (approximately 1 cup).

  3. 3

    Measure and pour vodka

Measure 2 oz Smirnoff Black and pour it over the ice in the mug.

  4. 4

    Add lime juice

Squeeze fresh lime and add 0.5 oz (about half a lime) of fresh lime juice into the mug. Drop the squeezed wedge in if you like extra citrus.

  5. 5

    Top with ginger beer

Slowly top the drink with 4 oz chilled ginger beer. Pour gently to preserve carbonation.

  6. 6

    Stir gently

Give the cocktail 1–2 gentle stirrings with a bar spoon to combine vodka, lime, and ginger beer without flattening the fizz.

  7. 7

    Garnish and serve

Garnish with a lime wedge or wheel on the rim and an optional mint sprig. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.
