Sangria Base

Method

Sangria Base

1

Combine wine and fruit

In a mixing glass or small pitcher, pour 1 cup A to Z Pinot Noir and 1/4 cup fresh orange juice. Add the sliced orange and lime pieces. Gently stir to combine. Let sit for 5–10 minutes at room temperature to marry flavors while you prepare the margarita mix.

Margarita Mix

2

Prepare cocktail

In a shaker, add 2 oz Espolón Silver tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz agave nectar, and 0.25 oz simple syrup. Add a handful of ice (about 4–6 large cubes). Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

3

Optional rim

If you want a salted or Tajín rim, run a lime wedge around the glass rim, then dip into coarse salt or Tajín. Do this before adding ice and liquid.

Finish & Garnish

4

Add 1 cup of fresh cubed ice to the prepared serving glass. Strain the shaken margarita mixture into the glass over the ice.

5

Spoon or strain approximately 1/2 cup of the sangria base (wine + fruit) into the glass with the margarita. Leave the fruit slices in the pitcher and add a slice or two to the glass if desired.

6

Top with 2 oz club soda or sparkling water to give a light effervescence. Gently stir once or twice to create an even pink/purple hue without flattening the bubbles.

7

Garnish with a lime wheel and an orange wheel on the rim or floated on top. Adjust sweetness with an extra splash (up to 0.25 oz) of agave nectar or simple syrup if desired.

8

Serve immediately with a straw or cocktail pick for the fruit.
