If the Chardonnay is at room temperature (above ~60°F / 15°C), place the sealed bottle in an ice bucket filled with 4 cups of ice and enough cold water to come halfway up the bottle. Leave 10–15 minutes to bring the wine to a serving temperature of about 50–55°F (10–13°C).

Rapid chill (if wine is too warm)

If you have time and the bottle is warm, chill it upright in the refrigerator for 2–3 hours before serving to reach the same target temperature.

Morgen Long Chardonnay 2023 is typically meant to be enjoyed relatively young; decanting is optional. If you prefer to open the aromatics, gently pour the wine into a small decanter or carafe and let it sit for 15–30 minutes before serving.

Optional decant

Place the bottle on a stable surface. Remove the foil capsule and clean the top of the cork with a clean cloth or paper towel. Insert the corkscrew straight into the center of the cork and pull the cork out smoothly. Wipe the bottle lip if any cork fragments or dust appear.

Open the bottle

If using a decanter, pour slowly into the decanter. Otherwise, pour directly into chilled white wine glasses. Fill each glass to about one-third full (approximately 5–6 ounces / 150–180 ml) to allow space for the aromas.

Decant or pour

Optionally add a lemon twist on the rim or a small sprig of thyme in the glass for presentation. Serve with light appetizers such as goat cheese crostini, fresh oysters, or mild seafood to complement the crispness and fruit/acid balance of the wine.

Garnish & pair

Place the opened bottle on a serving tray or beside the ice bucket so guests can see the label. Offer the cork and the decanter (if used) to guests who ask. Refresh the ice bucket as needed to keep the bottle cool during service.
