1. Chill glass
Place a rocks glass or Old Fashioned glass in the freezer for a few minutes, or fill it with ice and water to chill while you build the cocktail.
2. Combine spirits and modifiers
In a mixing glass add 1.5 oz Don Julio Añejo, 0.75 oz Carpano Antica, 0.5 oz Graham's 10 Year Tawny Port, 0.5 oz Amaro Averna, 0.25 oz Frangelico, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters.
3. Add ice and stir
Fill the mixing glass with large, cold ice. Stir briskly but smoothly for about 30–45 seconds (approximately 20–30 revolutions) until the cocktail is well-chilled, slightly diluted, and silky.
4. Prepare serving glass
Discard the chilling ice/water from the chilled rocks glass. Place one large ice cube (or fresh ice) in the glass.
5. Strain and garnish
Strain the chilled mixture into the prepared rocks glass over the large ice cube. Express an orange twist over the cocktail (pinch the peel to release the oils), rub the peel briefly on the glass rim, and drop it into the drink as garnish.
6. Serve
Present immediately. Sip slowly to appreciate the layered notes of aged tequila, sweet fortified wine, herbal amaro, and hazelnut from the Frangelico.
