1. Prepare the glass
Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass (or coupe) and dip lightly into smoked salt or coarse sea salt so the rim has a thin, even coating. Set glass aside.
2. Combine ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz reposado tequila, 0.5 oz mezcal, 0.5 oz orange liqueur, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz agave syrup.
3. Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker about two-thirds full with ice (roughly 1 cup). Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the shaker becomes very cold and slightly frosty.
4. Strain and serve
Double-strain (using the shaker cap and a fine mesh strainer if available) into the prepared glass over fresh ice (a large ice cube or several cubes).
5. Garnish
Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim. Optionally express a lime peel over the drink to add aromatic oils before dropping it in.
6. Serve immediately and enjoy responsibly. This cocktail balances the smoothness of reposado tequila with a hint of smoky mezcal and the brightness of lime and orange.
