Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Octopus

Begin by cleaning the octopus. Remove the ink sack and beak. Rinse under cold water thoroughly.

  2. 2

    Tenderize the Octopus

In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Submerge the octopus in the boiling water for about 5 minutes, then remove and let it cool. This step helps to tenderize the meat.

  3. 3

    Marinate the Octopus

In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well. Add the cooled octopus to the marinade, ensuring it is evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  4. 4

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Make sure the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.

  5. 5

    Grill the Octopus

Remove the octopus from the marinade, allowing excess marinade to drip off. Place the octopus on the grill. Grill for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until the octopus is charred and cooked through.

  6. 6

    Serve

Once grilled, remove the octopus from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice into pieces and serve with fresh lemon wedges and additional parsley if desired.
