Prepare the Pork
In a slow cooker, combine the pork shoulder, chopped onion, minced garlic, smoked paprika, cumin, black pepper, salt, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and water. Mix well to coat the pork.
Cook the Pork
Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
Cook the Sausage
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Texas hot link sausages until browned and heated through, about 5-7 minutes. Slice them into bite-sized pieces.
Combine and Serve
Once the pork is done, shred it using two forks and mix it with the barbecue sauce. Add in the cooked sausage pieces. Serve warm on buns or on a plate with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
