Brewed to bring you back, SweetWater Lager isn’t meant to be complicated. With a 100% pilsner grain bill to create a memorably crisp, clean body elevated with spicy, floral hop notes. Low bitterness. Reduced alcohol. Easy-drinkin’ beer you don’t have to think about.

In a large mash tun, heat 20 liters of filtered water to 70°C (158°F). Add the 5 kg of pilsner malt and stir well. Maintain the temperature for 60 minutes.

Mash the Grains

After mashing, sparge the grains with hot water (around 75°C or 167°F) until you collect about 25 liters of wort in your brew kettle.

Bring the wort to a boil. Once boiling, add 50 g of Hallertau hops and boil for 60 minutes.

Boil the Wort

With 15 minutes left in the boil, add 30 g of Saaz hops to the wort for flavor.

After the boil, quickly cool the wort using a wort chiller or by placing the kettle in an ice bath until it reaches around 20°C (68°F).

Cool the Wort

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermenter and pitch the packet of American lager yeast. Seal the fermenter with an airlock.

Pitch the Yeast

Allow the beer to ferment at a stable temperature of around 10-12°C (50-54°F) for about two weeks.

Ferment

After fermentation is complete, prepare a priming solution by dissolving 100 g of corn sugar in 500 ml of boiling water. Cool it down and add it to the bottling bucket.

Prepare for Bottling

Transfer the beer from the fermenter to the bottling bucket, mixing gently with the priming solution. Fill sanitized bottles and cap them.

Bottle the Beer

Allow the bottled beer to condition at room temperature for about 2 weeks for carbonation.

Condition the Beer

After conditioning, chill the beer in the fridge and enjoy your American Lager!
