Coffee & Water

Additions (optional)

Method

Brew (Drip - Hot)

1

Grind

Measure 1 tablespoon (approx. 0.0625 cups) of Zoo Blend whole beans per 1 cup water. Grind to a medium grind suitable for a drip machine (similar to granulated sugar).

2

Prepare Machine

Place a clean paper or permanent filter in the coffee maker's basket. Add the ground coffee to the filter.

3

Add Water

Pour 1 cup (240 ml) of filtered hot water (just off boil, about 90–96°C / 195–205°F) into the coffee maker's reservoir for each tablespoon of coffee used. Start the brew cycle.

4

Serve

When the drip cycle finishes, pour the coffee into a cup. Add milk and/or sweetener to taste if desired.

Brew (Drip - Iced)

5

Concentrate Option

To make iced coffee that isn’t diluted, brew double-strength: use 2 tablespoons (0.125 cups) of ground coffee for 1 cup of hot water, or brew the normal ratio into a smaller carafe so the resulting brew is stronger.

6

Brew

Follow the same grind and machine preparation steps as for hot drip coffee but using the double-strength ratio if concentrating. Brew as normal.

7

Finish

Fill a glass with about 1/2 cup ice. Pour the brewed coffee over the ice (if you used double-strength, you can pour straight; otherwise expect mild dilution). Add milk or simple syrup to taste.

Notes & Optional Steps

8

For best flavor use freshly roasted Zoo Blend beans and grind immediately before brewing. Adjust coffee-to-water ratio to taste (standard drip ratio is about 1:16 by weight; this recipe uses a spoon measure for single-cup convenience). If using a commercial drip machine with preset measurements, follow machine guidelines while keeping the flavor profile in mind.
