Method

Garnish & Glass Prep

1

Rim the glass

Run the lime wedge around the outer rim of a chilled rocks or coupe glass (your choice). Spread the coarse salt on a small plate and gently dip the rim into the salt so it sticks to the lime juice. Set the glass aside.

2

Combine ingredients

Add the blanco tequila (or nonalcoholic tequila substitute), orange liqueur (or nonalcoholic orange cordial), fresh lime juice, and agave syrup into a cocktail shaker.

3

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and the ingredients are well chilled and slightly diluted.

4

Strain and top

Double-strain (or fine-strain) the cocktail into the prepared salt-rimmed glass over fresh ice if serving on the rocks, or without ice into the chilled coupe for a straight-up margarita. If you prefer a lighter, fizz-touched 'Naught Your Margarita', top with about 1 ounce of club soda and gently stir once to combine.

5

Garnish and serve

Float the thin lime wheel on the surface or place it on the rim. Serve immediately and provide an extra lime wedge on the side if desired.
