Absinthe rinse
Pour the 0.25 tsp absinthe into the chilled serving glass, swirl to coat the inside surfaces, then discard any excess (or leave a thin coating). This adds an aromatic salutation.
Mixing
Add 2 oz gin, 0.5 oz dry vermouth, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup, 0.25 oz orange liqueur and 2 dashes orange bitters into a cocktail shaker.
Add 1 cup of ice to the shaker. Seal and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes frosty and the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.
If you prefer a smoother texture, double-strain the cocktail through a fine mesh strainer into a mixing glass with fresh ice and stir gently for 10 seconds, then strain into the prepared serving glass.
Serve & Garnish
If you used an ice water chill, discard the water and dry the glass. Place a single large clear ice cube into a rocks glass (if serving on the rocks) or prepare the chilled coupe for a neat pour.
Serve immediately with a friendly greeting — 'Greetings & Salutations' — and enjoy responsibly.
