Method

Base Smoothie

1

Prepare ingredients

Measure and assemble frozen mixed berries, ripe banana, unsweetened almond milk, Greek yogurt, and rolled oats. If berries are very large, roughly chop to help the blender.

2

Add berries, banana, almond milk, Greek yogurt, and rolled oats to the blender jar in that order (liquids first helps blending).

Protein & Performance

3

Add the scoop of protein powder to the blender. Pour in the chilled red wine (about 1/4 cup). The small amount of wine is intended to add vinous aroma and polyphenols; do not use more or blend for too long to avoid breaking down flavor balance.

4

Sprinkle cacao nibs into the blender for texture and a chocolatey flavor contrast.

Healthy Fats & Add-ins

5

Add the ground flaxseed, almond butter, and packed fresh spinach to the blender. The spinach will add nitrates and color without strong flavor when balanced with berries and wine.

Sweeteners & Seasoning

6

Add honey (or maple syrup), vanilla extract, and sea salt. The salt enhances sweetness and the wine's complexity.

Blend & Finish

7

Secure the blender lid and blend on high for 45–60 seconds, or until smooth and silky. Stop and scrape down the sides once if needed. Aim for a thick but drinkable texture; add up to 2 tablespoons (30 ml) extra almond milk only if too thick.

8

Taste and adjust: add another 1/2 teaspoon honey if you prefer sweeter, or 1–2 tablespoons extra wine for more flavor (optional, not recommended for under-21). Re-blend briefly if adjusting.

Serve & Garnish

9

Pour the smoothie into two tall glasses (or one large). It should yield roughly 20–24 ounces total.

10

Top each glass with a sprinkle of toasted oats or granola, a few fresh berries, cacao nibs if desired, and a mint sprig for aroma. Serve immediately.
