Apple Tarte Tatin

Method

Instructions

1

Prepare the Apples

Peel, core, and quarter the apples. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the apples and cook for about 5 minutes until slightly softened.

2

Make the Caramel

Sprinkle the sugar over the apples and stir gently to combine. Cook for an additional 10 minutes, without stirring, until the sugar turns golden brown and caramelizes.

3

Add Spices and Vanilla

Add the cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract to the caramelized apples. Stir to combine. Remove from heat.

4

Prepare the Pastry

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the puff pastry and cut it to fit over the skillet. Place the pastry over the apples, tucking the edges down around the apples.

5

Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.

6

Cool and Serve

Allow the tart to cool for a few minutes, then carefully invert it onto a serving plate. Serve warm with chai ice cream and a drizzle of apple cider.
