Wine Ingredients

Method

Wine Making Process

  1. 1

    Harvesting and Crushing

Begin by harvesting ripe Pinot Grigio grapes. Crush the grapes in a clean container to release the juice and pulp.

  2. 2

    Juicing

Transfer the crushed grapes to a press and extract the juice into a fermentation vessel. Make sure to separate out the skins and seeds.

  3. 3

    Adding Water

Add 500 ml of water to the extracted grape juice to achieve the desired acidity and to balance the flavor.

  4. 4

    Yeast Addition

Sprinkle 5 grams of wine yeast over the juice and stir gently to combine. This will initiate the fermentation process.

  5. 5

    Fermentation

Cover the fermentation vessel with a clean cloth and let it sit in a cool, dark place for about 1-2 weeks, monitoring the fermentation activity.

  6. 6

    Sulfur Dioxide Addition

After fermentation, add 50 mg of sulfur dioxide to the wine to preserve its freshness and prevent oxidation.

  7. 7

    Sweetening

If desired, add 100 grams of sugar to the wine to enhance sweetness, stirring until fully dissolved.

  8. 8

    Racking

Once fermentation is complete, transfer the wine to a clean container, leaving sediment behind. This process is known as racking.

  9. 9

    Bottling

Bottle the wine in sterilized bottles, sealing them tightly. Store the bottles in a cool, dark place for aging.

  10. 10

    Serving

Chill the wine before serving. Enjoy your homemade Oyster Bay Pinot Grigio!
