Method

Prepare glass and tools

1

Chill glass

Place a martini (coupe) glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you mix the cocktail to ensure it is well chilled.

2

Gather tools

Have a cocktail shaker, jigger, bar spoon (optional), and a fine strainer ready. Use fresh lemon and a peeler or paring knife for the garnish.

Build and mix

3

Combine ingredients

Into a cocktail shaker filled about two-thirds with fresh ice, pour 2 oz Malfy gin, 1 oz Sauvignon Blanc, 0.5 oz elderflower liqueur, and 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice. If you prefer a touch more sweetness, add up to 0.25 tsp simple syrup.

4

Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes very cold and slightly frosted. This both chills and lightly dilutes the drink to round flavors.

5

Double strain

Discard the ice or water from the chilled glass. Using a Hawthorne strainer and/or a fine mesh strainer, strain the cocktail into the chilled martini or coupe glass to remove ice shards and any pulp from the lemon juice.

Garnish and serve

6

Garnish

Express the oils of a lemon twist over the surface of the drink by holding the twist skin-side down and giving it a quick pinch, then rim the glass edge with the peel and drop it in (or rest a thin lemon wheel on the rim).

7

Serve

Serve immediately while very cold. The Crisp Martini is best enjoyed sipped slowly to appreciate the floral elderflower, citrus brightness, and the wine's aromatic crispness.
