Ingredients
Bottled Water
Bottled Water
1. Sanitize bottle (if reusable)
If using a reusable bottle, rinse it with hot water and a small amount of dish soap. Rinse thoroughly to remove soap residue. Optionally sanitize by filling with a mild bleach solution (1 teaspoon household bleach per 1 quart/1 liter of water), let sit 2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with potable water. Allow to air dry or wipe with a clean towel.
2. Chill bottle (optional)
If you prefer cold water, place the empty bottle in the refrigerator for at least 15–30 minutes or add ice cubes later when filling.
3. Fill bottle
Hold the bottle under a clean filtered water tap or pour filtered still water from a clean pitcher. Fill to about 1 cm (1/2 inch) from the top to allow for expansion and to make sealing easier. For a 500 ml bottle, fill approximately 0.5 liters.
4. Add ice and garnish (optional)
If desired, add up to 4 ice cubes to chill quickly. For a subtle flavor, slide one thin lemon slice against the inside wall of the bottle before capping.
5. Seal bottle
Screw on the cap tightly to prevent leaks and contamination. Wipe any spills from the outside of the bottle with a clean cloth.
6. Store
Store the sealed bottle upright in the refrigerator for chilled water or at room temperature in a cool, shaded place. Consume within 24–48 hours if opened; sealed commercially bottled water can be stored for months following manufacturer guidance.
