Method
For the Sesame Chicken
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Trim the chicken breasts and cut them into bite-sized pieces. Season with salt and black pepper.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and cornstarch. In a separate bowl, beat the egg. Dip each piece of chicken into the egg, then coat it with the flour-cornstarch mixture.
- 3
Fry the Chicken
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the battered chicken pieces and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 4
Add Teriyaki Sauce
In a large bowl, toss the fried chicken pieces with teriyaki sauce until well coated.
- 5
Garnish with Sesame Seeds
Sprinkle sesame seeds over the teriyaki-coated chicken before serving.
For the Miso Soup
- 6
Prepare the Broth
In a pot, bring the water to a boil. Gradually whisk in the miso paste until fully dissolved.
- 7
Add Tofu and Seaweed
Cut the tofu into small cubes and add it to the pot along with the seaweed. Simmer for about 5 minutes.
- 8
Finish with Green Onions
Just before serving, stir in the chopped green onions and remove from heat.
